Intumescent Fire Door Seal - Fire Only (FD30)

Intumescent strips are used to help maintain the fire-resisting performance of a fire door by sealing gaps around the door leaf when exposed to heat.

During a fire, the material expands, helping to close the gap between the door and frame and support the integrity of the door assembly.

Damaged, missing or incorrect seals are commonly identified during Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), particularly where doors have been altered, repaired or subject to wear over time.

This fire-only intumescent strip is typically used where fire resistance is required without additional smoke control.

When it is typically required

• existing seals are damaged, worn or missing
• fire doors are being remediated following inspection
• incorrect seal types have been fitted
• fire resistance needs to be reinstated

What it does

• expands when exposed to heat
• helps seal gaps between the door leaf and frame
• supports the fire-resisting performance of the door assembly

Unlike combined seals, this product does not include a smoke brush or smoke seal element.

Important

Seal type, size and installation method should align with the fire door design and any available certification or specification.

Fire-only seals may not be suitable where smoke control is required. Where there is uncertainty, the Fire Risk Assessment and door specification should be considered before installation.

• remedial works following inspection findings
• maintaining fire door integrity where smoke control is not specified

Application note

Designed for installation into existing rebates in the door leaf or frame.

If the door does not have rebates, a surface-mounted seal system may be required instead.
